How to close a deceased person's Netflix account
Netflix handles closing a deceased person's account through an online form. The steps below are Netflix's own published process, taken from its official support pages — this page organizes them so you can see what the provider asks for; it doesn't add to them or recommend any particular action.
What you'll need
- The account number, email, or phone number on the account
Steps
- If you have access to the account, click "Cancel Membership" on the Account page (see "How to cancel Netflix"). Optionally sign out of all devices connected to the account.
- If you don't have access, gather the email address or phone number associated with the Netflix account and the full payment information currently used to pay for Netflix, then contact Netflix.
- If there is no cancel option in the account, the membership is billed through a payment partner (e.g. a mobile or TV provider) — cancel with that partner instead.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and a confirmation email goes to the address on the account.
Closing one account is only part of the job — every recurring charge still draws on a card or bank account the estate will eventually claim. HeirLoft reads the recurring charges straight out of an inbox in one pass, so you can see everything that's still billing while you work down the list.

Billing stops at the end of the current billing period.
Notes
Netflix keeps viewing activity and account details for 24 months after an account closes, in case it is restarted.
